AfriCAN Climate is a project co-funded by the European Commission within the 7th FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME, set up by a team of 5 African and 5 European organisations, including research institutes and dissemination networks.
The AfriCAN Climate portal is an innovative web-based knowledge platform for the sharing of climate change research and good practices.The portal employs innovative and creative web functionalities to harmonise multilingual, interdisciplinary and pan-continental climate change knowledge and to encourage project developers and stakeholders to learn and benefit from Africa's challenges and success stories.

AfriCAN Climate works in close cooperation with AAK Net, the Africa Adaptation Knowledge Network. AAK Net is part of the UNEP-facilitated Global Adaptation Network (GAN) and builds on ongoing efforts to mobilize existing knowledge and best climate change adaptation practices. AAKNet was recently endorsed by African regional adaptation knowledge platforms as the "continental network" to be responsible for the exchange of information and knowledge and fostering and supporting strategic planning and policy processes.

We are looking for volunteers to join our editorial team!

  • Duties include: identification, editing and uploading of relevant content items; translation tasks.
  • Qualifications: scientific background; good English; interest in climate change and the environment; friendly, responsible and committed.
  • We offer: the opportunity to be involved in international projects, becoming an active member of a wide network of climate change researchers and practitioners. Volunteers will receive a participation certificate, signed by the AfriCAN Climate Editorial Board.
