AFRICAN CLIMATE AWARDS
As part of the dissemination of information and promotion of AfriCAN Climate, the project supports awards in recognition of excellence: the AfriCAN Climate Awards.
We are pleased to announce the winners of the Third AfriCAN Climate Award: Dr Aster Gebrekirstos Afwork and Dr Debra Cynthia Roberts
NOMINATION PROCEDURES
Only registered members of the AfriCAN Climate platform can present nominations. Not yet a member? Register here
Nominees must have conducted research, implemented projects, initiated actions and/or promoted practices related to the theme of the award.
Candidates can be based in Africa or in Europe, but the initiative, project or research in question must be focused on Africa.
THE AWARD
The winners shall receive an honorary certificate in recognition of their work. Winners shall be invited to join the events organised by AfriCAN Climate in combination with the relevant award ceremony.
AfriCAN Climate will provide financial support (economy airfare/ground transportation and accommodation) for the winner to attend the award ceremony.

Awareness Raising Award
TOPIC: awareness raising about climate change and its impacts, with a focus on Africa.
This can include: awareness raising campaigns, including tools used; targeted environmental education; social media initiatives; works of art (including visual arts, performing arts, music, and films).
CRITERIA FOR THE AWARD: scale/extent of the initiative (number of followers, geographical scope, etc.); impact on policy development and decision making; impacts on communities; artistic quality (if applicable).

Good Practice Award
TOPIC: good practice – to be aligned with the 8 Good Practice Principles of the AfriCAN Climate Project.
This includes climate change mitigation and adaptation projects implemented in Africa.
CRITERIA FOR THE AWARD: inclusiveness and capacity building, innovation, transferability and sustainability.
