The book has taken an ecosystem services perspective and discussed the benefits and resilience provided by dry lands trees. Trees provide ‘provisional’ services such as food, fruits, oil, medicine, wood, and wood-fuel energy. They also provide supporting services that underpin the production of these goods such as fertile soils and the biodiversity that supports the diversity of foods and other products. This ecosystem perspective helped to capture all benefits from trees.
