Project
MAPS is a collaboration to establish the evidence base for long term transition to robust economies that are carbon efficient. In this way MAPS contributes to ambitious climate change mitigation that aligns economic development with poverty alleviation.

The Mitigation Action Plans and Scenarios (MAPS) Programme is a collaboration between several developing countries (South Africa, Peru, Colombia, Chile and Brazil). It is led by the University of Cape Town’s Energy Research Centre (ERC) and SouthSouthNorth (SSN), a Cape Town-based non-profit organisation. The MAPS Programme grew out of the experience of the South African Government mandated Long Term Mitigation Scenarios (LTMS). The ERC was commissioned to lead the Research component of the process and SSN was commissioned to lead the Process component.  MAPS is a collaboration to establish the evidence base for long term transition to robust economies that are carbon efficient. In this way MAPS contributes to ambitious climate change mitigation that aligns economic development with poverty alleviation.
