This terminology is now widely used but in different ways dependant on context and intention. As the globe continues to warm, agricultural production and food security will come under increasing threat. Many nations are already engaged in practices to deploy the best breeding material for the location, optimizing water and fertiliser use and preventing post-harvest losses. What other techinical approaches can be used? Some people are using the term as a proxy for World Bank/IMF-dominated, industrial agriculture. The need to tackle climate change while producing more food to feed the world's growing population means that "climate-smart agriculture" is the only way forward. What do you think?
