Athanasios Bourtsalas, male, has studied Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Patras in Greece (BS+M.Eng.) .He graduated from Columbia University in the City of New York, where he obtained a MSc degree in Earth Resources Engineering from the Department of Earth and Environmental Engineering, with full graduate scholarship including tuition plus living expenses. He is currently a PhD researcher at Imperial College London, working on the material utilization of waste to energy ashes under the supervision of Professor C.Cheeseman, while he is a Research Associate at the Earth Engineering Center, Columbia University, working with Professor N.J.Themelis for several projects regarding waste-to-energy, and additionally, he is the coordinator of the Global WTERT (Waste to Energy Research and Technology) Council, based in Columbia University, in the city of New York. His interests include Waste-to-Energy, environmental modeling/management and Life Cycle Analysis studies.
